DPW shifts white metal recycling to Aug. 24

by | Aug 19, 2024 |

The Department of Public Works has changed the date of this month’s white metal collection day.

Due to the Labor Day holiday, white metal recycling instead will be held on Saturday, Aug. 24, from 7 a.m.-noon at the DPW building at 66 Fruit Street.

Typically, these collection days are held the last Saturday of every month.

The list of recyclable items include stoves, washers and water heaters. The DPW cannot accept certain items, such as air conditioners, freezers or refrigerators.

Residents are asked not to drop off any items for white metal recycling outside of the scheduled collection day. The garage is monitored by video surveillance, and violators will be ticketed.

Those looking to dispose of any item the town cannot recycle should contact E.L. Harvey at 800-321-3000.
