Drew Carey

Drew Carey, 63, of Whitinsville passed away on Sept. 25, 2026, after a recent diagnosis of cancer. Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late Edith (Merrill) and Donald F. Carey.

Drew was a 1981 graduate of Nipmuc Regional High School and worked for Ashdown Technologies for 20 years.

Music was a lifelong passion for Drew, who performed regularly in the area, including in dining establishments in Hopkinton. A gifted musician, he loved performing and sharing music with others and was an avid collector of guitars. His love of hard rock and heavy metal eventually expanded into acoustic performance, allowing him to share his own interpretations of songs spanning many artists and genres. Drew’s music was an important part of who he was and a wonderful way for family, friends and others to remember him. Those wishing to hear his music and celebrate his musical legacy are invited to visit DrewRocks.com.

Drew is survived by his sister, Catherine Jette and husband Jean-Guy Jette of Pepperell; and his brother, Cliff Carey of Upton and longtime partner Christine Petrillo.

A celebration of life announcement will be forthcoming. Arrangements are under the care of the Chesmore Funeral Home of Hopkinton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Obituaries are submissions, typically from funeral homes, that are not subject to the same level of editorial oversight as the rest of the Hopkinton Independent. Obituaries may be edited for grammatical and factual mistakes and clarifications and shortened for space considerations.
