An incident on West Main Street on Tuesday resulted in a vehicle rollover underneath one of the overpasses for Interstate 495.
According to Hopkinton Police Deputy Chief Scott van Raalten, officers responded to a two-vehicle crash on West Main Street near I-495 at 8:22 a.m. on Tuesday. The police incident log indicate the accident resulted in a rollover with entrapment.
Van Raalten explained in an email that a Hopkinton resident driving a Subaru had come to a complete stop in traffic. “A 2021 Jeep, operated by a 35-year-old female from Mendon, continued straight and swerved into a concrete abutment at the last second,” he continued. “As a result of the impact, the Jeep flipped and rolled over onto the Subaru.”
The Jeep came to rest on the abutment on its roof and “sustained extensive damage,” according to van Raalten. The Subaru also had severe damage on its right side. No injuries were reported, and one operator was taken to the police station for pickup.
The driver of the Jeep was issued citations by the HPD for unsafe operation of a motor vehicle and a marked lanes violation.
