HHS boys basketball bows out of postseason

by | Mar 1, 2022 | Sports

The Hopkinton High School boys basketball team’s impressive season came to a close Tuesday night with a 58-44 loss at Wellesley in a Division 1 state tournament preliminary round game.

Wellesley jumped out to a 17-10 lead after one quarter, but the Hillers fought back and, after a steal and layup by senior guard Nate Kasper, took a 27-25 lead into the break.

The third quarter was the Hillers’ undoing, as they only scored five points in the period and trailed, 40-32, heading into the final period. Things continued to spiral downward, as Wellesley scored the first six points of the quarter to grab a 14-point lead, and the hosts cruised home from there.

Hopkinton finishes its season with a record of 14-7.
