HHS class hosts virtual marathon fundraiser

by | Mar 14, 2021 | Education

The Hopkinton High School Class of 2024 is hosting a Hopkinton Virtual Marathon fundraiser. Participants have just over three weeks (March 23-April 15) to complete 26.2 miles, either alone or as part of a team of up to five people. The miles can be broken up over a period of days; they just need to be completed by April 15. Teams will track their miles using a run-recording app such as Runkeeper or MapMyRun.

Once a team has completed its marathon, the times will be submitted to class officers, who will determine the winners of various awards, including fastest overall time and best team outfits. Winners will receive prizes donated by the event sponsors: HopYo, Muffin House, Hiller’s Pizza, Hopkinton Drug, 110 Grill, Resilience Fitness and Skincare Studio.

The entry fee per team is $100. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Hopkinton-based Mental Health Collaborative.

“I love the idea of having people team up and do something that is good for physical and mental health,” said Mental Health Collaborative founder Abbie Rosenberg. “We are excited to continue bringing this critical education to our schools and our community and this fundraiser will help us to do that.”
