HHS has 5 COVID cases in past 2 days; state updates reopening deadlines

by | Mar 10, 2021 | Education, Featured: Education

An email Wednesday from Hopkinton High School principal Evan Bishop to HHS families indicated three members of the HHS community tested positive for COVID-19. This comes on the heels of an email Tuesday noting there were two cases.

This makes a total of seven known cases in the past five days, as families were notified of single cases this past Saturday and Sunday.

The run on cases comes as the district discusses reopening plans. Meanwhile, on Tuesday the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education updated its guidelines, requiring elementary schools in the state to open full-time by April 5 and middle schools by April 28. A date for high school reopening is to be announced in April. “Districts will be provided with at least two weeks in advance of the date for high school students to return to full-time, in-person instruction, but should start making such plans now,” Tuesday’s statement from DESE reads.
