The Hopkinton High School baseball team dropped a 7-2 decision to host Westfield on Sunday afternoon in the quarterfinals of the MIAA Division 2 state tournament.

Trailing 2-0 in the top of the third inning, the Hillers got on the board via an RBI single from Ryan Lang. However, the hosts responded with four runs in the bottom of the inning for a 6-1 lead. It was 7-1 when Hopkinton’s Dylan Ruff recorded an RBI single in the top of the fifth for the final run of the day.

Hopkinton, the sixth seed, ends its season at 18-3. Third-seeded Westfield is 20-2. …

Boys lacrosse standout Logan DelPonte was named an All-American and Jack Provencher was selected as an Academic All-American by USA Lacrosse last week. The seniors helped the Hillers to a record of 15-5 and win their first state tournament game since 2019.
