HHS sports roundup: Boys hockey gets dramatic win

by | Feb 7, 2021 |

The Hopkinton High School boys hockey team pulled out a 3-2 victory over visiting Westwood on Saturday in Marlborough as Pavit Mehra scored the deciding goal with 1:13 remaining.

Ronnie Shamus started the winning sequence when he faked a shot from the point and slid a pass to Mehra, who stepped up and fired a hard wrist shot for the finish.

Shamus also had a hand in the Hillers’ first goal. He fired a slap shot from just inside the blue line, and Geoff Tocco deflected the puck in the net late in the first half to tie the score.

The Hillers took a 2-1 lead with 15 minutes remaining when Joey Carrazza tipped in a Mehra shot.

Westwood tied the game with 5 1/2 minutes left on a two-man advantage. The Hillers then were down a player for another minute but were able to escape without further damage.

The Hillers next play at Holliston on Wednesday. …

The HHS/Dover-Sherborn co-op girls team also was in action Saturday, dropping a 6-2 decision at Medfield. The girls are back in action Monday, hosting Dedham.
