HHS Sports Roundup: Powers 2nd in all-state discus, boys relay 3rd, girls tennis falls in sectional final

At the All-State Track and Field Championship meet on Saturday at Norwell High School, Hopkinton High School’s Kate Powers finished second in the discus with a throw of 122 feet, 1 inch.

The HHS boys 4×100 relay team of Peter Burdulis, Ethan Champlin, Joel Rosen and Aidan Rowell finished third in a time of 43.66 seconds. It marks the fastest time by a Hopkinton relay in 15 years.

Other Hopkinton athletes competing included Hailey Tolson (100 meters) and Sean Golembiewski (110 hurdles).

On Friday, Autumn Tumbleton finished 20th in the 2-mile in a time of 11 minutes, 43.54 seconds.

Girls tennis bows out

The Hopkinton High School girls tennis team dropped a close 3-2 decision to host Wellesley in the Division 1 South sectional final on Saturday morning.

Maddy LaMachia won her match at second singles, and Riley Krattenmaker completed an undefeated season at third singles for Hopkinton’s points.
