HHS Sports Roundup: Volleyball, swim teams win openers

The Hopkinton High School girls volleyball team posted a 3-0 victory at Holliston on Tuesday night in their season opener.

Senior Cadyn Boyce shined with seven kills, while Cathryn Leighton contributed 13 assists, two kills and an ace. Also for the Hillers, Melanie Gildea recorded six aces and Sam Berenson led the defensive effort.

Hopkinton next hosts Holliston in a rematch Thursday.

On Monday, the HHS swimming and diving team recorded victories over Malden (102-68) and Waltham (117-52) in a virtual meet, with the Hillers competing in Milford.

Kevin Gu, Lucas Coffman and Deirdre Belger swept the 200 free vs. Waltham, while Olivia Scalora recorded a personal-best time in the 50 free.

The Hillers face Holliston next Monday.
