Hopkinton Community Summer Band cancels 2020 program

by | Jun 29, 2020 | News

The Hopkinton Community Summer Band announced that its 2020 program has been canceled “in order to keep all of our members safe and healthy.” The decision was made after consultation with the Board of Health.

“While we are disappointed, we look forward to our 16th season next summer when we can meet again on the common, play some great music and connect with everyone,” read an email from organizers Caitlin MacDonald, David Purdy and Craig Hay.

The band, open to current and past musicians ages 14 and older in the Hopkinton area, normally practices together in June and July, leading up to a performance on the Town Common as part of the Sunday Summer Concert Series. It has performed for 15 years.

Hopkinton Parks & Recreation, which organizes the summer concerts, said all concerts in July have been canceled. A decision has yet to be made regarding August.
