Hopkinton Today for Friday, Oct. 10: Health Department to run flu clinics next week

by | Oct 10, 2025 | Featured: Features, Hopkinton Today

Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo of the day.

Flu clinics to serve seniors, children

Senior Flu (ages 65+) Clinic 2025

The Hopkinton Health Department has scheduled flu clinics next week for senior residents and young children.

The senior clinic is for adults aged 65 and older, and will be held at the Hopkinton Senior Center on Wednesday. The youth clinic is scheduled for Thursday at the Hopkinton High School library, and is for children ages 2-18. Registration is required, as supplies are limited.

“What we’re focused on is running a clinic for seniors who are in that most vulnerable population and the children in Hopkinton,” said Health Director Shaun McAuliffe.

Both clinics are funded in part by regional and state-level grants. McAuliffe noted that his department is running the senior flu clinic with grant money from the Metrowest Health Foundation. As a result, any senior from the Metrowest area is eligible to receive a vaccine from the clinic.

“[With the grants] we will be working to enhance access to vaccines to communities surrounding Hopkinton,” said McAuliffe. He added that his department is working on setting up future flu and COVID-19 clinics that will run once a week through respiratory season.

McAuliffe gave praise to his staff for setting up the first two clinics in a short span of time. “The work is done, in normal times, between February and April,” he said. “It all got condensed into September.”
