Submissions are open for the Hopkinton Center for the Arts’ 2025 Winged Feet Exhibition and Auction.

The exhibition — done in collaboration with the 26.2 Foundation — invites artists from all over to participate in a project celebrating the Boston Marathon.

Artists will create designs placed on a winged foot cutout made of Versatex, which will be put on display at the Town Common from April 6-27.

“Anybody that wants to try doing this, including children, can apply,” said Sarah Alexander, HCA’s gallery director. Alexander is in charge of evaluating this year’s designs.

Her biggest tip to artists submitting their work is to make sure their designs can withstand the elements once installed on the Town Common.

“I look at the creative design, but also how well it can hold up to weather,” Alexander explained. “We allow full [creative] freedom, the artists just have to make it waterproof.”

This year’s exhibit featured 26 winged feet — one for every mile of the Boston Marathon. They later were auctioned off to benefit both HCA and the 26.2 Foundation, fetching around $20,000 total.

Alexander says the HCA is hoping to double both the number of installations and the money raised through the auction this year.

“It’s exciting to watch it come together,” she said. “Seeing them all together is beautiful.”

Submissions close Dec. 30. Those interested can submit a design on the HCA’s registration website.
