Allison Karsay’s vision with organizing Golden Pond Assisted Living’s car show is simple: Bring the cars to residents, not the other way around.

Karsay, Golden Pond’s director of community relations, said the car show is for the benefit of its residents. “It’s to make them happy — to enrich their lives,” she said. However, the event is open to community members of all ages.

“It’s a way to bring the community together,” she added.

The car show will be held at the assisted living facility on West Main Street on June 20 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. The day will feature different types of vehicles, raffles, a live DJ and complimentary cookout. Proceeds from the event benefit the Alzheimer’s Association, which Karsay said is a cause tied into the work Golden Pond does every day.

“We have two memory care neighborhoods,” Karsay explained. “Why not give back and support [the Alzheimer’s Association]?”

Community members with classic cars or custom builds they want to show off are encouraged to arrive early to sign up. Registration for each vehicle is a $10 donation. The day also will feature an awards ceremony where Golden Pond residents will get to vote on best in show, people’s choice, best engine and best paint job.

“They’re all excited about this,” Karsay noted.

Karsay said she has been doing a lot of work reaching out to car enthusiasts in the area and connecting with other car shows. She is optimistic those connections and a strong response from the community will give Golden Pond’s car show some staying power.

“We’re really hoping this becomes a yearly event for us,” she said.
