Repairs to the Lake Maspenock Dam are almost 50% complete, according to the Department of Public Works.

In a Facebook post from Jan. 10, the DPW informed residents that the repair process already had reached its halfway point since work began in December.

“The majority of construction will be complete this month, and restoration efforts will continue through the spring,” the DPW stated in its post. It initially estimated that repairs would be finished by February.

According to bid documents, the project is focused on the left downstream wall of the damn. Repairs include installing a new “cast-in-place” concrete wall, installing riprap toe protection in front of the dam and rebuilding the earthen embankment.

Approved at the 2022 Annual Town Meeting, the project appropriated $400,000 in town funds and is funded partially by a grant from the Massachusetts Office of Dam Safety.
