Community members who are interested in the arts and are looking for a way to give back now have an opportunity to serve on the Board of Directors at the Hopkinton Center for the Arts.
The HCA announced last week that it was on the search for new members for its board due to a number of positions opening up.
“We’re currently at 12 [members],” said Kelly Grill, HCA’s director. “We would love to have three more.”
HCA board members serve three-year terms, with an opportunity to serve an additional three years before the position turns over. The board serves multiple roles, from assisting with the majority of the center’s fundraising efforts to working with various committees to steer HCA’s governance, marketing, strategy and so on.
As for eligibility, Grill says HCA’s focus is more on bringing in individuals who align with the organization’s vision.
“We are really just looking for people who have a passion for nonprofit work — for the arts, in particular,” Grill said.
The goal of the board is to help HCA keep up with its continued growth and strategizing for the future. Grill pointed to the opening of a second dance studio on Hayden Rowe Street and the Center School reuse project as areas of support. As well, she highlighted the expanding offerings the center now offers for students and adults with disabilities now that a new director of adaptive arts has been hired.
Grill encouraged community members from Hopkinton and the broader region to apply for a board seat. She also noted that for individuals looking to volunteer who may not feel they can take on a position with the board, a number of HCA committees are looking for volunteers. These committees span strategy, DEI, marketing and more.
Those interested are encouraged to email Allison Iantosca, chair of HCA’s governance committee, at aiantosca@fhperry.com for more information.
