Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a video or two to brighten your morning.
The Hopkinton Police Department announced that boat patrols of Lake Maspenock and Lake Whitehall have resumed after a “long hiatus.” The announcement comes on the heels of Tuesday’s Select Board meeting, when concerns were raised about potential for an accident due to overcrowding.
Hopkinton Public Schools superintendent Carol Cavanaugh introduced three new hires at the previous School Committee meeting. Chris Ocampo is the new middle school assistant principal, Laura Theis is the interim high school assistant principal, and Jennifer Cuker is the new director of English language acquisition, equity and access. There was another School Committee meeting last night, with school reopening the primary topic of discussion, and we’ll have a report on that on our website this afternoon.
College student Zack Sisitsky is leading the charge to start a public needs fund in Hopkinton in an effort to help residents who are struggling financially. It’s meant to support and supplement other organizations in town such as Hopkinton Youth & Family Services and Project Just Because.
The Hopkinton Center for the Arts’ Art @ A Distance week-long fundraiser wraps up this weekend with an Enter Stage Left online concert tonight and a live, drive-in family concert with the Mike Payette Band featuring Cecilia Colucci at the HCA on Saturday.
