Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a video or two to brighten your morning.
The home safety review company SafeWise ranked Hopkinton first in its list of the Safest Cities in America for 2021. Hopkinton also ranked first in 2019.
Following the Senior Gala on Wednesday, Hopkinton High School held its Senior Recognition Night on Thursday. Among the awards presented Thursday were the Principal’s Leadership Award to Mahdi Maymandi-Nejad and the Superintendent’s Award to valedictorian Andrea Liu. Graduation will be held Friday at 6 p.m. at the HHS football field. On Saturday, the second annual HHS graduation car parade will start at 10 a.m.
The Callanan Cronin Funeral Home remains open after a fire Monday at the Church Street business. A fire in the fireplace of the main residence escaped into the walls of the building, Hopkinton Fire Chief Steve Slaman explained.
Memorial Day unofficially kicks off the long-awaited summer season. In Hopkinton, it also marked the start of new policies in effect at Sandy Beach, where a residents-only sticker policy is being implemented.
