Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo and video of the day.
Community members in Hopkinton should be on the lookout in late summer/early fall for public forums where they’ll be asked for input on what a new elementary school should look like to replace Elmwood School. An option of renovations or changes to grade configurations and more will also be put out for discussion and debate.
After a successful inaugural event last year, the Hopkinton Chamber of Commerce’s Restaurant Week will return May 13-22. “The restaurants really benefited from it and wanted to keep it going,” says Bryan Brown, chair of the Restaurant Week committee.
Last summer, Hopkinton High School junior Dhaneshwar “Dhanu” Senthilkumaran was volunteering as a youth Red Cross ambassador and community volunteer. He noticed that some of his fellow volunteers had Red Cross Clubs at their schools and decided to revive the club at HHS.
The Parks & Recreation Department is well known for its summer sports clinics, but if you’re more into science than basketball or would love to make films rather than run laps, there’s a place for you, too.
This week’s Baypath Adoptable Animal is Cookie, a 1-year-old who is “a very sweet girl and a volunteer favorite.”
