Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a video or two to brighten your morning.
Select Board member Brian Herr, a former Republican, did not take kindly to a request for him to join a local rally protesting alleged voter fraud after President Donald Trump, clearly headed to defeat, made some wild allegations Thursday night. Responded Herr: “Trump’s endless ignorance is nothing short of a national tragedy.”
While the focus locally and nationally remains on the presidential election, the COVID-19 pandemic continues to trend in the wrong direction. However, as indicated by the town’s latest COVID-19 update, Hopkinton received some good news as the number of active cases dropped from 14 earlier this week to five as of Thursday.
Hopkinton Police Chief Joseph Bennett announced that a team of assessors from the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission is scheduled to visit Dec. 2-3 to begin examining various aspects of the Hopkinton Police Department’s policies and procedures, operations and facilities.
The India Association of Greater Boston and the South Asian Circle of Hopkinton are among the organizations joining together to support Massachusetts Celebrates Diwali 2020, a virtual celebration of the Festival of Lights next Friday, Nov. 13, from 5:30-7 p.m.
