Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo of the day.
The Open Space Preservation Commission at its meeting Thursday night was enthusiastic about the town’s acquisition of the Colella property for open space, a process one member said was 20 years in the making.
The Hopkinton Public Library was closed midday Friday and stayed closed on Saturday due to “excessive heat in the building.” It is expected to be open during normal business hours Monday.
As part of the Main Street Corridor Project this week, overhead utility line work will continue on the west side of the project, while work on underground utility connections from property lines to building foundations also continues.
The Massachusetts Department of Transportation announced that the Interstate 495 southbound on-ramp (Exit 106) in Hopkinton from I-90 eastbound and westbound will be closed during overnight hours from Monday, Aug. 5, through the morning of Friday, Aug. 9. The closures will be in effect each night from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. to accommodate construction operations.
Town meetings tonight include the Board of Health (5:30), Sustainable Green Committee (6), Planning Board (7) and Woodville Historic District Commission (7).
