Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo and video of the day.
This year on Halloween morning, a couple hundred people, many in costume, will run a 5K to raise money for the Hopkinton Center for the Arts, as the HCA hosts the fifth annual Wicked Weekend fundraiser.
On Oct. 11, college sophomore Will Huebner will lace up his sneakers on Main Street to run the Boston Marathon for a crucial cause: mental health. Huebner is running to raise money for the Mental Health Collaborative, an organization founded in July of 2019 by local therapist Abbie Rosenberg.
After one season as coach of the Hopkinton High School girls hockey team, Scott Hayes was named coach of the HHS boys hockey team, following the resignation of Chris MacPherson. MacPherson stepped down after 10 seasons and 100-plus wins. He coached the Hillers to two Tri-Valley League championships and a 2019 sectional title.
Town meetings tonight include the Personnel Committee (5:30) and Planning Board (7).
Welcome to the Marathon Countdown Quiz. Each weekday through Oct. 11 we will have a trivia question about the historic race. Submit the correct answer for a chance to win a gift card and T-shirt. See contest rules for details.
