Hopkinton Today: Thursday, Aug. 10

by | Aug 10, 2023 | Featured: Features, Hopkinton Today

Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo of the day.

During its nearly four-hour meeting Tuesday night, the Conservation Commission lost its patience with the developer of The Trails after the project incurred additional stormwater management violations after the deluge of rain earlier in the day.

The water quality at the upper beach at Hopkinton State Park returned to an unsafe level for swimming due to an increase in enterococci bacteria over the past week, according to water sample test results released Wednesday, while the water quality at the main beach remains unsuitable for swimming.

This week’s Police Log includes reports of vehicle damage from construction areas, a bird stuck in a car grille, a bat in a living room and a wayward chicken spotted multiple times on South Street.

Town meetings tonight include the Elementary School Building Committee Elmwood Project Public Forum (7:30).

Photo of the Day: Ed and Sheryl Harrow shared this photo they took recently of a heron patiently hanging out in a tree at Lake Whitehall.
