Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo of the day.

The Select Board on Tuesday voted unanimously to continue the suspension on the Upper Charles Trail Committee until Aug. 1, when the board will continue to discuss the results of a recently released survey on residents’ goals for the committee and the trail.

The Select Board at its four-hour meeting Tuesday night voted unanimously to approve the appointment of Conservation Commission co-chair Kerry Reed as the town’s new Department of Public Works director and Julia Chun as the new sustainability, economic development and equity project manager.

This week’s Police Log includes one arrest along with reports of a stolen propane tank, a burning mattress and issues at Sandy Beach.

Parks & Rec’s Thursday Night Movies on the Common series starts this Thursday at at dusk (approximately 8:30 p.m.). The first movie is “Minions: The Ride of Gru.”

Town meetings tonight include the Cultural Council (6) and Community Preservation Committee (7).
