Hopkinton Today: Thursday, June 13

by | Jun 13, 2024 | Featured: Features,

Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo of the day.

Leading off Independent Thoughts, two centuries after former slave Frederick Douglass spoke in Hopkinton, a group of residents and guests paid tribute to the legendary orator last month with a reading of his influential speech, “What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?”

During its meeting Tuesday night, the Conservation Commission unanimously approved a notice of intent to manage excess water as part of the addition plans for Hopkins Lower Middle School.

This week’s Police Log includes reports of an individual trapped in an elevator, a dog biting a student and a school bus hitting a car.

Registration is open for the 21st annual Sharon Timlin Memorial Event, which will be held at Hopkinton High School this Saturday. The 5K road race and family fun day is a fundraiser for The Angel Fund for ALS Research.

Town meetings tonight include the Open Space Preservation Commission (5), Woodville Historic District Commission (7) and School Committee (8).
