Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo and video of the day.

With efforts continuing to bring the Upper Charles Trail extension to fruition, members of the Upper Charles Trail Committee are turning their attention to a different section of the trail as well as on public outreach efforts.

The annual community flag retirement ceremony was held on Flag Day at the Woodville Rod & Gun Club. Local Scouts and veterans partner to organize the event, which was open to the public.

Leading off the Schools Notebook, Hopkinton Girl Scouts Troop 68243 is taking action to make mental health and stress management resources more accessible for every age group.

This week’s edition of the Police Log includes reports of a deer hitting a car, two golfers getting into an argument, and a speeding Corvette.

The Timlin Memorial Event — a 5K road race/walk and family fun day — is Saturday morning at Hopkinton High School. A section of Hayden Rowe Street from Grove Street to Chestnut Street will be closed for approximately 30 minutes starting at about 8:25 a.m. Police will redirect traffic through the area. Parking will be limited at the schools, and participants are encouraged to carpool.

Town meetings tonight include the Appropriation Committee (6) and Hopkinton Democratic Town Committee (6:30).
