Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo of the day.

Leading off the Select Board roundup, the question of how involved the board should be in the hiring of a new deputy fire chief was debated at Tuesday’s meeting.

Matt Gaughan pitched a three-hit shutout as the Hopkinton High School baseball team advanced to the Division 2 state tournament quarterfinals Wednesday with a 2-0 victory over visiting Dartmouth.

The Hopkinton Police assisted the State Police on Wednesday morning with the search for a suspect who was involved in a pursuit on Interstate 495.

This week’s Police Log includes three arrests along with reports of a man being attacked by a turkey, stolen items from a garage and issues with jet skiers.

Town meetings tonight include the School Committee (7) and Open Space Preservation Commission (7).
