Hopkinton Today: Tuesday, Jan. 2

by | Jan 2, 2024 | Featured: Features, Hopkinton Today

Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo of the day.

The Select Board is expected to choose the town’s new fire chief after interviewing the two finalists at its meeting Tuesday night. Both candidates, interim Chief Gary T. Daugherty Jr. and John W. Ignatowicz, possess more than 25 years of firefighting experience and advanced degrees, according to their resumes.

The MetroWest YMCA Family Outdoor Center in Hopkinton will host a job fair this Friday from 4-7 p.m. for individuals interested in working at the YMCA’s summer camp.

The Hopkinton Trails Committee and the Hopkinton Trails Club have created a monthly trail volunteer day on the first Saturday of each month from 9 a.m.-noon. This Saturday, volunteers will meet at the Ice House Pond parking area and work to fix a dislodged trail bridge at Berry Acres.

Town meetings tonight include the Select Board (5:30) and Historical Commission (7).
