Hopkinton Today: Wednesday, April 10

by | Apr 10, 2024 | Featured: Features, Hopkinton Today

Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo of the day.

At its meeting Tuesday, the Parks & Recreation Commission authorized chair Dan Terry to appear before the Select Board and ask that eight spots in the EMC Park parking lot be designated for one-hour parking only on weekdays in the daytime. The issue is the lack of parking spaces for residents seeking to go to the park/playground because high school students are filling up the lot.

Our latest Boston Marathon features highlight Jen Tedstone (running to benefit Canty’s Underdog Scholarship Fund), Gary Trendel (One Summit) and Jen English (Baypath Humane Society). We also profile the local individuals tabbed as race starters and veterans who will be recognized at the start line Monday.

This week’s Move In Style Athlete Spotlight shines on Hopkinton High School boys lacrosse standout Logan DelPonte, who on Tuesday scored five goals, including the game-winner in overtime, as the Hillers beat Westwood for the first time since 2019.

The officers of the Project Just Because Student Board are organizing a spring cleaning fundraiser through June 16. For a donation to PJB of $100 per hour, a group of five volunteers will help with yard work.

Town meetings tonight include the Appropriation Committee public hearing (5), Marathon Committee (6) and Personnel Committee (6).
