Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo of the day.
At its meeting Thursday night, the School Committee — in joint session with the Select Board — will choose someone to fill the seat left vacant when Holly Morand departed for a job with Hopkinton Youth & Family Services. Five individuals expressed an interest in the role: Ashley Fogg, Chris Masters, Karen Mulik, Lori Nickerson and Jamie Wronka.
Cat Dacey was decades away from being born the last time a Union College athlete competed at the NCAA Women’s Cross Country Championship in 1981. The Hopkinton native not only ended that drought, but she became the first female runner in school history to qualify for the championship meet as an individual.
The Hopkinton High School girls basketball team is looking to bounce back this winter following a losing season in 2022-23, and coach Mike Greco said the Hillers have enough varsity minutes under their belt to run up more games in the win column.
