Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo and video of the day.
At its meeting Tuesday night, the Select Board considered a resident’s request for a town-sponsored display to show support for Ukraine, but members ultimately did not more forward after questions were raised about the town taking a political stance. Also at the meeting, the board approved the hiring of a law firm to seek legal claims related to the PFAS contamination of the town’s water supply.
In celebration of St. Patrick’s Day and Irish heritage in March, Hopkinton-based Greyhound Friends is marking the entire month as Irish Dogs Month. The group aims to generate funding support to bring more Irish-bred greyhounds, salukis, and lurchers for adoption through its shelter.
Project Just Because is holding a March Madness fundraiser, and the deadline to enter is this Thursday morning. The entry fee for each bracket is $20, or $10 for students. The top three finishers win prizes, including sports-themed bundles of shirts, hats, blankets and more.
Town meetings tonight include the Upper Charles Trail Committee (5), Appropriation Committee (6), Sustainable Green Committee (6) and Elementary School Building Committee-2 (7).
