Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a photo of the day.
The town is hosting a meeting Thursday evening with updated information about a group of chemicals known as PFAS (perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances) and the town’s remediation efforts in response to concerns over PFAS in drinking water over the past two years.
The Parks & Recreation Department will host a grand opening celebration for its highly anticipated tennis/pickleball courts this Friday at 3 p.m. Located at 17 Pratt Way, off Fruit Street and across from the dog park, there are four courts dedicated exclusively for pickleball use. The two tennis courts are configured so they can be converted to pickleball courts.
This week’s Move In Style Athlete Spotlight shines on baseball player Matt Gaughan, a lefty pitcher who took a 5-1 record and 1.07 earned run average into the final week of the regular season.
Hopkinton High School’s baseball team started the season with a subpar 1-3 record, but coach Matt Anderson pressed his team to stay the course. The Hillers responded by winning 13 games in a row, with a pitching staff that shut down nearly every opponent in recent weeks.
Leading off Independent Thoughts, Hopkinton resident Amit Jagdale, known to readers of the Independent website for his fantastic photos from around town, is venturing into the world of book publishing.
