Good morning, Hopkinton! Welcome to the daily update we call Hopkinton Today — a quick recap of yesterday’s news, highlights of what’s on tap, and a video or two to brighten your morning.
Health Director Shaun McAuliffe, during his update at Tuesday’s Select Board meeting, said the next few days will be telling, as people return to work and school after Labor Day weekend. “We’re all monitoring our rates through the next four days,” McAuliffe said, noting that a primary concern is people returning from out-of-town trips. “If we make it through the next four days, I think we’ll be in good shape.”
Also at Tuesday’s Select Board meeting, Bill Miller was sworn in as fire chief, Kathy LaFlash was recognized for her 26 years of service on the Personnel Committee, and the Police Department announced that Thursday’s Hopkinton Night Out event has been postponed due to the forecast for heavy rain.
The Hopkinton Water and Sewer Department announced that there will be a required fire flow test Thursday at 9 a.m. on South Street. Due to the location and volume of water, there may be discoloration throughout town after the test is complete, the department noted.
Town meetings tonight include the Housing Authority (6) and Marathon Committee (7).
