HPD: ‘Well-being search’ in woods near Wilson Street uncovers no leads

The Hopkinton Police Department searched the woods near Wilson Street on Friday evening as part of a “well-being search” but was unable to find anyone, according to the police chief.

In a text to the Independent on Friday night, HPD Chief Joseph Bennett reported that police were “unable to locate anyone” after an “exhaust[ive] search with multiple agencies.”

The person involved is suspected to have medical issues, according to the police chief.

Stated Bennett: “There is absolutely no danger to the community.”

Units were to continue to patrol the area Friday night, he added. He also noted that he spoke with the officer in charge at the scene..

At around 7 p.m. Friday night, a helicopter was spotted hovering in downtown Hopkinton, arousing some concern among residents.
