Hydrant test on Avenue E scheduled for Thursday

by | Oct 21, 2025 | News

The Water-Sewer Department will be conducting a required hydrant flow test on Avenue E this Thursday.

The test is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Thursday. According to a notice from Water-Sewer Manager Jed Fenneuff, testing the hydrant should take about 20 minutes.

“Due to the high velocity of the water flow, there is a possibility of temporary water discoloration in the area,” Fenneuff stated in the notice. “Any discoloration that may occur will dissipate.”

Residents who experience discoloration can resolve the issue by flushing the cold water pipes in their homes. Doing so allows trapped sediments to be released. The Water-Sewer Department recommends residents check their water before use.

Discolored water is safe to drink, but the town does not recommend using it for washing laundry.

For more information, visit the Water Department’s website or call 508-497-9765.
