A crash last week involving a Hopkinton Police Department cruiser pursuing a call is being investigated by an independent crash reconstruction team, according to the department’s deputy police chief.
“On December 26, 2025, at approximately 8:39 PM, a fully marked Hopkinton Police cruiser was responding to a call when a crash occurred at the intersection of Main St. and Cedar St,” stated HPD Deputy Police Chief Scott van Raalten in an email to the Independent on Friday. “The officer operating the cruiser was transported to Milford Hospital, where he was treated and released later that evening. The operator and passengers of the other vehicle declined medical treatment.”
Van Raalten noted that this intersection was closed “for approximately two hours to allow an outside agency to investigate the crash.”
He added: “The investigation is being conducted by the CEMLEC (Central Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council) Crash Reconstruction Team.”
No further details were available from the HPD as of Friday. The Independent reached out to the Massachusetts State Police Media Relations Department on Thursday and contacts on the CEMLEC website on Friday and did not receive an immediate response.
