James Burke

James Burke

James Glen Burke, 72, of Hopkinton passed away unexpectedly on March 18, 2026. Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late Marion (Davis) and Walter Burke. He was the husband of 25 years to Julie (Carlson) Burke of Hopkinton.

Jim was a true outdoorsman who loved fishing and hiking, and he was a devoted fan of the Boston Bruins. He had a dry sense of humor and always kept Julie on her toes. Jim loved deeply his family, his friends and the life he lived. Jim certainly did not end his life neat and clean!  He didn’t do anything halfway; he lived fully.

In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by his siblings, Gary Burke and Eileen Burke of Chaplin, Connecticut. He also leaves behind his four nephews, who loved their “Uncle Jim” very much.

Visitation will be held on Friday, April 3, from 10 a.m.-noon at Chesmore Funeral Home of Hopkinton. A funeral service will follow at noon.

Obituaries are submissions, typically from funeral homes, that are not subject to the same level of editorial oversight as the rest of the Hopkinton Independent. Obituaries may be edited for grammatical and factual mistakes and clarifications and shortened for space considerations.
