Letter to the Editor: Herr for Select Board

by | May 8, 2024 | Letter to Editor

I am happy to be writing this letter on behalf of my fellow candidate for Select Board, Brian Herr. The last two weeks have been very encouraging for me as I’ve gotten to know my fellow candidate at the recent Meet the Candidates events and debate. I feel that everyone brings something unique that they can offer the town, but Brian’s 12 years as a member of the Select Board separates him.

Throughout my campaign, I have talked about the need for instilling confidence in our town leadership and the concern around our current debt situation. Brian has proved he checks both of these boxes with his previous tenure. It’s one thing to have a background in finance or budgeting, which is a critical skill for this position, but it’s entirely another thing to have done the job and carry the institutional knowledge that Brian has.

Brian and his family have been in town for a long time, and for him to serve on the board for 12 years is an incredible commitment and investment that he’s made in Hopkinton. No one could judge him for wanting to spend his time on other things, but here he is stepping up at a critical time to support the future of our town.

— Joe Clark, Hopkinton

Letter to the Editor: Town must balance character, finances
