Letter to the Editor: McSweeney for Select Board

by | May 15, 2024 | Letter to Editor

I write in support of Kyla McSweeney for Select Board.

Kyla not only has the public policy background needed to serve as a Select Board member, she has the character to excel in this role. As a Girl Scout leader over the past six years, Kyla has exemplified what it means to be a Girl Scout: to be honest and fair, considerate and caring, and responsible for what she says and does.

As Kyla and I co-planned a camping experience for our troops last year, I was able to observe her skills to find common ground, really listen and be positive and direct with troop members and adult volunteers alike. Her ability to engage in long-term planning while thinking on her feet in the moment will translate well to working across and in conjunction with various town officials.

As a volunteer for a youth organization, Kyla is a team player, a negotiator and a master communicator. Above all, she has a deep understanding that actions speak louder than words, and I am confident that as a Select Board member, Kyla will take action in the best interest of our town.

Please join me on Election Day to vote for Kyla McSweeney for Select Board.

— Rebecca Bacon, Hopkinton

Letter to the Editor: Town must balance character, finances
