Library Corner, Feb. 9 edition

Digital cards available
Those without a library card or time to visit can access Hopkinton digital materials by signing up online for a free CWMARS e-card for e-books, audiobooks and magazines. Check the library’s website for details and an application.

Local Author Fair
The library is hoping to hold a Local Author Fair, where local published authors will have an opportunity to read from their work, answer questions about their writing process, and sell and sign copies of their work. Local authors should reach out to Nanci Hill (nhill@hopkintonma.gov) before the end of February with contact information (name, phone number, email address) as well as the book’s title and ISBN. Slots will be limited and preference will be given to Hopkinton authors.

COVID reminders
Masks covering the nose and mouth are required for those age 2 and over at all times in library. Food is not allowed in the library.

Backyard Chickens with Kirby Lecy
Wednesday, Feb. 9, 6:30-7:30 p.m. (Zoom)
Farmer Kirby will present all the things she wished she had known about natural chickens before adding them to her small farm. She will cover all the basics of keeping poultry for eggs. This event is sponsored by the Ashburnham Public Library. Register via the library website.

Climate-Smart Forestry with Mass Audubon
Thursday, Feb. 10, 7-8:30 p.m. (Zoom)
Conservation scientist Josh Rapp will speak on how landowners can manage forests to be both more resilient to climate change and to remove carbon from the atmosphere and store it in the forest to reduce the cause of climate change. This event is sponsored by the Granville Library, Wildwood Property Owners Association and Tunxis Club Tolland. Register via the library website.

The HUMAN puzzle —– The U in YOU Workshop
Wednesday, Feb. 23, 7-8:30 p.m. (Zoom)
In this interactive and fun workshop, coach Namrata Mathur will explore what values are, what values are important to YOU and why, how they shape YOU and how they may shift over the course of YOUR life.
