LNG emergency training exercise could lead to discolored water throughout town

by | May 1, 2023 | News

The town’s Water Department announced that residents could have discolored water following emergency training drills at the Eversource liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility on Thursday morning.

“As part of those drills, the use of fire hydrants at high velocity and large volumes could lead to discoloration of water throughout town,” Water Department Manager Eric Carty shared. “Please check your water before using it that day and the following few days. Due to the high volumes, it may take several days for the water to fully clear.”

The training exercise is scheduled to start at 9 a.m. and conclude around 1 p.m.
