The town’s latest Main Street Corridor Project update released Friday shared that Verizon and the town are in disagreement over the company’s work schedule, as other utilities near completion of their duties.
Verizon planned to work on-site in Hopkinton for one or two days per week, which the town deemed unacceptable. The utility company responded with a time estimate. Even if Verizon committed to a full-time schedule each workday, it stated that it could take between four and six weeks to complete the job.
“Town officials will be calling for more action and will escalate to a higher level of management to resolve,” according to the statement.
Meanwhile, other utility companies reported that their work is at or near completion. AT&T has concluded its efforts on the project.
Comm-Tract, the town’s telecommunications infrastructure partner, has finalized its work with the exception of moving a line on one pole. The town has requested completion of this task during the upcoming week.
Other than a few minor tasks, Comcast has completed its work. None of its remaining efforts will Interfere with any other utilities’ progress.
A.F. Amorello & Sons, the project’s construction company, has been asked to mobilize this month to complete several tasks on the project not impacted by utility work.
