Marathon spotlight: Marla Oram

by | Sep 13, 2021 | Featured

Marla Oram

Leading up to the Oct. 11 Boston Marathon, the Independent will profile local charity runners. This issue we highlight Marla Oram, who is running to raise funds for Hopkinton High School’s Business Professionals of America Club as well as the school’s robotics team.

Oram lives in town and works for Dell Technologies, which will match donations from fellow employees.

“After running four half marathons over the past several years, I am thrilled to now be able to run my first full marathon and also support the talented students of Hopkinton,” she writes. “As an employee of Dell Technologies, I have an extra special place in my heart for technology, especially when it comes to how we can empower our next generation through learning. And if that wasn’t enough, being a resident of Hopkinton (living just steps away from the start line!) makes it even more special to know that my children (Nolan, age 8 and Cecily, age 5) will benefit from Hopkinton Robotics in just a few short years.”

Oram is seeking to raise $5,000, primarily through her GoFundMe page at gofundme.com/f/marlas-running-to-boston-for-hhs-robotics.
