Maria Torres-Purvis of Hopkinton passed away suddenly on Sept. 28. She was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on Feb. 19, 1992, to Maria (Quiles) Cruz and Edwin Torres. She graduated from Marlborough High School alongside her husband and daughter in May 2010. She briefly pursued a career as a nurse’s assistant but later found her love in management at the Muffin House in Hopkinton. Many would start their morning with a cup of coffee, a muffin, and her smile as she greeted them every day.
She married Evan Purvis on June 6, 2011. This marriage has been blessed with four wonderful children: Marilyn (13), Maribella (9), Evan (5) and Mariah (3). She was so proud of the family she created and cherished the love they shared. She was loved by all and was often the life of the party. Her smile is what most of her friends and family will remember about her. She lit up every room that she entered with her laugh and bubbly personality. She loved to dance and would be the first person to turn up the music at any event. She often said her kids kept her young as she tried to dance and create TikTok videos with them.
Her beautiful life will forever be cherished by her husband, Evan Purvis, and four children, Marilyn, Maribella, Evan and Mariah of Hopkinton, as well as her mother, Maria Cruz of Connecticut, and father, Edwin Torres of Orlando, Florida, her siblings, Edwin, Roberto and Keyshla, and many nieces and nephews. Her smile will be remembered by all who knew and loved her, including aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held at the Emmanuel Baptist Church, 63 Rockwood Road, Norfolk, on Thursday, Oct. 14, from 9-10 a.m. A funeral service will follow in the church at 10 a.m. Burial will be held at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Hopkinton at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations will be gratefully accepted — children’s fund to be announced soon, or to gofund.me/d384d733
Arrangements are under the care of the Chesmore Funeral Home of Hopkinton.
