MassDOT announces I-90/I-495 lane closure, additional overnight ramp work

by | Aug 14, 2026 | News

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation will be closing a lane of Interstate 495 northbound starting Saturday and will continue overnight ramp work Monday-Thursday next week.

The right lane of I-495 northbound at the I-90/I-495 interchange in Hopkinton will be closed starting Saturday. The closure is required to stage further construction operations. It will remain in place for approximately three weeks.

The lane will remain open until the ramp to I-90 westbound and eastbound (Exit 58). Drivers continuing past the exit are advised to use the left two lanes.

Overnight ramp closures at the interchange will begin Monday night and continue through Thursday. Work hours are 11 p.m.-5 a.m. The I-90 eastbound and westbound ramps to I-495 northbound (Exit 106) will be closed, as will the I-495 northbound ramp to I-90 eastbound and westbound (Exit 58).

During overnight closures on the I-90 westbound ramp (Exit 106B), drivers will be directed to continue to the eastbound ramp (Exit 106A) and take I-495 southbound to West Main Street (Exit 54A) in order to reverse direction northbound.

When the I-495 northbound ramp to I-90 (Exit 58) is closed, traffic will detour up to Route 9 westbound (Exit 59B) to reverse direction onto I-495 southbound to access I-90.

Appropriate signage and law enforcement details will be in place. Drivers should anticipate delays and exercise caution while traveling through work zones.

For more information on traffic conditions, drivers can visit the Mass511 website, which features travel times and real-time traffic.
