Mehra skates to state title

by | May 15, 2019 |

Hopkinton resident Pavit Mehra was a member of the South Shore Kings 14U junior hockey team that won the Tier 1 state championship in March. Mehra scored a goal in both the semifinals, a 3-2 victory over Boston Advantage, and the final, a 3-2 victory over the Neponset Valley River Rats. The tournament for the top bantam teams in Massachusetts was played at Rodman Arena in Walpole.

The Kings advanced to last month’s national championships in Pittsburgh, but Mehra was forced to stay home after he came down with the flu a couple of days before the team left for the tournament, his family reported. The Kings went 0-3 at nationals.

The South Shore Kings have produced a number of NHL players, including current Boston Bruins Noel Acciari, Charlie Coyle and Chris Wagner.
