New ramp scheduled to open at I-90/I-495 interchange

by | May 5, 2026 | News

The Massachusetts Department of Transportation announced a new Interstate 495 on-ramp from Interstate 90 will open overnight next week.

In a notice, MassDOT revealed the new I-495 southbound on-ramp (Exit 106) from I-90 westbound is scheduled to open on Monday night. This will establish a new traffic pattern change for drivers on I-90. Traffic on accessing I-495 southbound will exit I-90 westbound first, followed by a second exit for drivers heading to I-495 southbound. Previously, all I-495 traffic would exit in one location.

Appropriate signage and law enforcement details will be in place to guide drivers through the new off-ramp system. Drivers should anticipate delays and exercise caution while traveling through work zones.

For more information on traffic conditions, drivers can visit the Mass511 website, which features travel times and real-time traffic.
