According to a recent notice, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation has scheduled ramp closures at the Interstate 90/Interstate 495 interchange in Hopkinton for Wednesday night. It also plans to finalize the alignment of traffic at Flanders Road in Westborough that night.
MassDOT plans to close both the I-90 westbound ramp to I-495 northbound (Exit 106B) and the I-495 northbound ramp to Route 9 eastbound (Exit 59A). Both closures will take place from 11 p.m.-5 a.m. Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
While the I-90 westbound ramp closure is in place, traffic will be directed to I-495 southbound (Exit 106A). Drivers will take the ramps at West Main Street (Exit 54B) to reverse direction onto I-495 northbound.
For the I-495 northbound ramp closure, drivers will be directed to exit onto Route 9 westbound (Exit 59B) and reverse direction back to I-495 southbound in order to access Route 9 eastbound (Exit 59A).
MassDOT also announced that traffic on I-495 northbound at Flanders Road in Westborough will be shifted to its final alignment on Wednesday. This new alignment reportedly will maintain the current three travel lanes on I-495 northbound over Flanders Road. It also will provide “an auxiliary lane” between the ramp from I-90 westbound to the ramp to Route 9 eastbound, according to the notice.
Appropriate signage and law enforcement details will be in place. Drivers should anticipate delays and exercise caution while traveling through work zones.
