Patricia A. Irvine, 92, of Hopkinton, passed away Oct. 30, 2018. Born in Framingham, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth (Payne) and Chester Smith. She was the wife of the late Robert James Irvine, who passed away in 1987.

Patricia’s greatest joy was her family and doing anything with them. She was a member of the Congregational Church of Hopkinton for many years volunteering with the Church Fair with her baking and knitting skills and cooking various dinners for the Boy Scouts and the Couples Club. Patricia had worked at Hopkinton High School Cafeteria during the 1950s and ’60s and then at Golden Spoon for more than 25 years beginning in the mid-’80s. All were labors of love.

Patricia is survived by her children, Betty A. Thomas and her husband, Bill, of Ft. Myers, Florida; Susan L. Midgette of Alto, Michigan, and Patricia L. Boelsen and her husband, Michael, of Hopkinton. She also leaves behind her lovely grandchildren, Nancy Clark and her husband, Brian, Brian Thomas and his wife, Pamela, Karin DePaolo and her husband, Stephen, Keith Midgette and his partner, Wayne Garcia, Robin Fisher and her husband, Jon, Jessica Duplessie and her partner, James VanGemert, and Michelle Oteri and her husband, Will. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Tommy and wife Katie, Tom, Katie and husband Bill, Rebecca, Nicole, Ryan, Ethan, Heather, Eric, Ashley, Erica, Callie, Michael James and Lily. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Hazel Irvine Johnson and husband Eddie; Laura Smith, and brother-in-law Wallace Irvine and his wife, Bert, as well as many nieces, nephews, and 92 years of dear friends. She is predeceased by two children, Nancy Lorraine Irvine and Baby Robert Irvine; her son-in-law, Claude Midgette; and her siblings, Chester Smith Jr., Virginia Smith Buchel and Mary Smith.

A family memorial service was held at Faith Community Church in Hopkinton and private burial is at Evergreen Cemetery in Hopkinton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friends of Hopkinton Senior Center, 28 Mayhew St., Hopkinton, MA 01748 or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, stjude.org. Arrangements are under the care of the Chesmore Funeral Home of Hopkinton, ChesmoreFuneralHome.com.
