Patricia Phaneuf

Patricia Phaneuf

Patricia Mary Phaneuf, a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who resided in Hudson for most of her life, passed away peacefully at the Golden Pond Assisted Living Community in Hopkinton on April 8, 2026, 11 days short of her 93rd birthday. Born April 19, 1933, in Marlborough, Patricia’s life was marked by her unwavering dedication to family, her nurturing spirit and a strong will that inspired those around her.

Raised in Hudson, Pat proudly graduated from Hudson High School with the love of her life, Dick Phaneuf, in 1951. Soon after, she embarked on her professional journey, holding several positions at the former Hudson National Bank, before applying her talents as a Claims Administrator at the D. Francis Murphy Insurance Agency in Hudson until her retirement in 1993.  Throughout her career and retirement years, she remained a figure of kindness and commitment.

Family was the cornerstone of Pat’s life. She married her high school sweetheart, Dick Phaneuf, sharing 68 cherished years until his passing in 2023. Together, they raised a loving family, which was a source of great pride and joy for Pat. She was a loving mother to son Stephen R. Phaneuf and partner Linda Muren of Hopkinton, son James P. Phaneuf and wife Susan of Milford, and daughter Susan M. Desimone and husband James of Shrewsbury. Pat’s compassion and generosity extended deeply into her role as grandmother to Gina M. Phaneuf, Brad W. Phaneuf and wife Trista, Angela R. Phaneuf, Lori E. Gelsomini, Nicole P. Dutton and husband Stanley, and Alex A. Desimone. She is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren, who, alongside her grandchildren, were the recipients of her boundless love and generosity. Pat’s extended family includes loving sister Eileen Devlin of Hudson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and close friends who will remember her fondly.

Pat’s personality was as warm as it was strong. She was known for her good-natured and caring demeanor, coupled with a steadfast loyalty to those she called friends. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren especially cherished her generous spirit, as she delighted in celebrating every birthday and special occasion with thoughtful gifts and affection. Pat’s love for her family was evident in everything she did.  She also enjoyed watching sports with Dick and loved her special treats of ice cream and chocolate whenever possible.

Later in life, Pat and Dick retired to Cape Cod in 1994. In 2002, they relocated to Shrewsbury to be closer to their children and grandchildren, embracing the joy of shared milestones and everyday moments. Since 2020, Pat and Dick resided at the Golden Pond Assisted Living Community in Hopkinton, where she continued to be surrounded by love and support after Dick passed away in 2023. The management and aides of Golden Pond were wonderful to both of our parents during the three years for Dick and the six years that Pat lived at the facility.

Pat’s passing is mourned deeply by all who knew her. She was preceded in death by husband Richard Alan Phaneuf, parents Stanley and Ida (Spratt) Duley, brother Warren Duley, sisters Anne Corrine “Nina” Parker and Sheila Whitney, and grandchild Jeffrey J. Phaneuf. Her family and friends take comfort in remembering a woman whose life was dedicated to kindness, loyalty and love.

A funeral service and celebration of Patricia’s life was held April 16 at the Tighe Hamilton Regional Funeral Home in Hudson, followed by burial at Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson.

Pat’s legacy is one of devotion — to her family, her friends and her community. Her lifelong commitment to those she loved, her gentle strength and her generous heart will be remembered and cherished by all whose lives she touched.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Faith & Family Hospice Foundation, 420 Lakeside Avenue, Suite 203-A, Marlborough, MA 01752. They are the “Angels on Earth” who took wonderful care of our mom while she was in memory care.
